For generations Canadians struggled and invested to provide an improved quality of life for all our citizens. Most people I know appreciate this variety of public space and valuable public services we inherited and believe we should continue to invest in them for the future generations to benefit from as well.
So who was it that asked governments to stop investing in all things public? Who was it that decided we have spent enough on the ‘the people’ and its time for government to get out of things like community, health and education?
Well it wasn’t just one person. This has actually been the work of a whole movement of people that have spent decades strategically selling the world on their views of a free market society.
